Silver Dollar City, Branson Missouri!
One of our favorite things to do in the summer is go to Silver Dollar City! It’s about 4 hours away from St. Louis in Branson Mo. There’s so much to do in Branson! You could easily spend two full days at the park and not get bored! When we went they were doing their Summer Nights, where they are open till ten at night! I totally thought the kids would make it till the end but we got at the park before they opened and it was just a long and fun day in the heat! They both passed out on our way back to my moms house!
If you get there before they open all the rides they do a fun little show in the front of the park where they sing and then ask for any members of the military to help put the flag up and to say the pledge of allegiance! Once we did that and the rides opened up the kids were running to Thunderation! Lawsynn rode it the last couple times we came and loves it! This time Holden really wanted to ride it and he loved it more than Lawsynn.
Our Favorite Ride
Thunderation for sure! We call this a BIG Kid rollercoaster. We normally do most of the smaller stuff since our kiddos are still young. But they love this ride! It doesn’t do any loops or goes upside down which is why I think the kids love it. Its just faster than the other kiddie rides!
Grand Exposition Coaster! The kids LOVED this ride! They rode it probably ten times while we were there! It’s a perfect little coaster for young kids. Its pretty short and they still get the thrill of riding a rollercoaster!
Grandfathers Mansion! This is technically not a ride but the kids LOVED THIS! It was our first time going through Grandfathers Mansion since coming to SDC. You walk in and everything is upside down and the floor is slanted and its hard to stand up and walk. The kids loved it though!
Magnificent Wave Carousel! I think this is probably my favorite ride! It’s swings that lift you up in the air and you go around and around! Kids who aren’t quite tall enough yet have to ride with an adult.
American Plunge! All the water rides were a serious life saver with the heat that was going on! It was 100 degrees the day we went so getting soaking wet helped! American Plunge was a lot of fun though! Holden had no idea what to expect and Lawsynn was so nervous! But they loved it! And this ride takes your photo when you go down the water fall!
Mystic River Falls! This is Lawynn’s favorite ride! I think its everyone’s favorite because every time we go we wait atleast 40 minutes to an hour in line. But its so worth it!!
Marvel Cave! It was our first time ever doing the cave tour and it was AMAZING!! You go down like 500 stairs and narrow tunnels/walk ways! You get to learn all about the history of the cave and how Silver Dollar City came about! All because the Marvel Cave! The history of the park is truly amazing! They just have such a unique story and history, its like no other amusement park! Seeing Marvel Cave is definitely a MUST if you go to SDC! And it will help give you a break from the heat!;)
FOOD!
I told Matt, the kids come for the rides, we come for the food!
Eva & Delilah’s Bakery! This is a must!! This cinnamon bread goodness is unlike anything else! Its so stinkin’ delicious that I wanted another one!
Lumbercamp Hamburgers! We ate here for lunch and it was perfect! Specially if you have chicken tender lovin kids like us! And french fries! They have a bunch of picnic tables and plenty of eating!
Rivertown Smokehouse: We ate here for dinner and it was so yummy! Its right by Mystic River Falls! You get fun views of everyone riding Mystic River Falls! The kids loved it!
Hannah’s Ice Cream Parlor: You cant visit Silver Dollar City without getting ice cream! You get to watch the ice cream being churned and there’s just nothing like homemade ice cream!
There’s so many yummy places to eat at SDC that we have yet to try! I feel like we are always trying to try new places to eat when we come! We always download the Silver Dollar City app and try to plan out where we will be eating before we come!
Silver Dollar City is seriously the highlight of our summer! The kids absolutely love it, and so do we! But I love most of all that they are passionate about their faith and the history of their park!
Can’t wait till our next trip!! Hope this post was helpful!
