Welcome

Hi, I’m Jess.

Welcome to Lost and Found Homestead! I’m Jess! I’m a mom of three, soon to be four! My husband, Matt, and I started out in our little 1907 house just outside St.Louis in 2015, right before Lawsynn was born. Our little house sits on 1/4 of an acre with a tiny little chicken coop that was built out of the kids old playhouse (read more about that here) and a decent size garden that took up a lot of our yard! The Summer of 2025 we found our forever home on five acres and sold our first house. It was very very bitter sweet but definitely the right choice for our family.

In this space I write about our beginning journey to homesteading, raising chickens, sourdough, motherhood, herbal remedies, and everything else in between!

Behind the name

Lost & Found Homestead was born from a deep love for the old ways, the lost traditions of homemaking, herbal remedies, slow living, nourishing food, and the simple beauty of life rooted in home and family. In a fast-moving world, we felt called back to the wisdom that so many generations once carried naturally.

But the name also holds an even deeper meaning for us. It’s a reminder of grace, redemption, and the heart of Christ. The Shepherd who leaves the ninety-nine to go after the one who is lost. This homestead is more than a place. It’s a gathering space for restoring forgotten traditions, creating a meaningful home, and remembering what truly matters most.
