Turning play house into chicken coop!

Since we got chicks we’ve been hustling to get the coop done! We had one little chick not make up and it was really hard on our Lawsie girl. But she pulled through and had a special burial for little Laffy Taffy!
But the coop is so close to being done yet there’s still so much to do. Matt had to make sure everything was sturdy and added a bunch of new pieces of wood and added a new roof! We’ve been trying to make sure we have the windows all figured out so that they have enough ventilation for summer, and so they stay warm in the winter!  We are so close to being done yet still have so much to do! Our chicks are now around 3-4 weeks old and we plan on moving them to the coop once they are 6 weeks old!
Here’s a photo of the coop before when it was the play house.

Matt had to cover one window and move the opening below that window for the chicken run. He’s gonna be making a door and so we can open it without having to go inside the run. The windows also have chicken wire over them and Matt made window frames that have a latch to open and that have plexiglass in them so in the winter it can help keep out cold!

We still have to finish painting, covering the back windows, make the front door, and make the run. No pressure Matt!! lol Also literally Matt has done everything! I helped paint but that was easy. He can SERIOUSLY build anything! We tried our hardest to use materials that we had left over from making the privacy wall and the deck too. Any who! That’s the update for now! Here’s a cute photo of our newest baby, Fern! Lawsie got her as a replacement because we didn’t have Laffy Taffy that long.
