Welcome
Hi, I’m Jess.
Welcome to Lost and Found Homestead! I’m Jess! I’m a mom of three, Lawsynn,Holden, and Truett! My husband, Matt, and I moved into our 1909 house just outside St.Louis in 2015, right before Lawsynn was born. Our little house sits on 1/4 of an acre with a tiny little chicken coop that was built out of the kids old playhouse (read more about that here) and a decent size garden that takes up a lot of our yard! Since we don’t own a lot of land, we are making due with that we have. You don’t need a huge space to grow your own food or own chickens!
In this space I write passionately about our beginning journey to homesteading, raising chickens, sourdough, motherhood, herbal remedies, and everything else in between!

Behind the name
The name came to Matt and I thought it was so perfect! Matt and I were both raised Christian but we’ve had times in our lives & marriage where we weren’t living for him. We went through a really rough patch in our marriage. We both decided if we wanted our marriage to work we had to make a change for the better. God had to be number one, quit drinking alcohol because it never made anything better, only worse. God heals all wounds. Luke 19:10
And the name just felt so fitting because of my love for thrifting and because of our house. I’ve spent a lot of time in our backyard digging a huge hole and finding all the things the original owners of our 1909 house had buried!
