Mrs. America Pageant week
I just got back from my 8 day Mrs. America pageant trip in Vegas! This blog post is gonna include everything I can think of to help future Queens prepare and know what to expect! First I’ll start off with what the difference between the three titles is! It’s definitely the most asked question. And if you are thinking of wanting to go compete in the Mrs.America pageant system, everything is paid for when you win your state title! Like Food, airfare, and hotel!
Any who, this is probably the MOST asked question! What’s the difference between all three titles!
Miss For America strong- You must be 18 or older and cannot be married.
Mrs. America -You have to be 18 years or older and have to be married.
Mrs. American – You have to be 18 years or older and have to be married. The Mrs. American division is brand new! It started in 2020! It was created to give two women the opportunity to go and compete at nationals. Both America and American titles are equally important and both winners go and compete at Worlds.
I’m gonna break down essentials for packing for Vegas nationals as best I can! I searched EVERYWHERE looking for a list of what to bring, what type of outfits, how many gowns! So hopefully this helps a little bit!
Okay, so now I’ll explain what we did each day! Just to give a little insight on how the trip went and what you do for 8 days! I’ll also try to include details about outfit changes and what most women wore. I’m not gonna lie, everyone dresses to the nines! I had so many questions on what outfits to bring and what kind of outfits to bring! I wanted to be prepared.
Day One– Orientation day! Before you get to the hotel you’ll know who your roommate is! Mine was Mrs.Wisconsin! She was amazing! When we arrived at the Westgate, Kate’s (my sister queen) room wasn’t ready when we arrived but mine was because my roomie checked in the day before me! So we hurried and got ready! Everyone changes from their travel attire (which everyone dresses really cute to travel to Vegas in) into something more business cute? I guess you would say! You do a lot of changing! Haha! We changed and headed to the pageant office to get our competition swimsuit, opening number dress, and our new sashes for the week! After that everyone took turns getting photos with the Elvis statue in the lobby! After you do the orientation stuff and meeting all your new sister queens you have a little bit of time to get ready for orientation dinner! Which will be a formal gown! At the orientation dinner they introduce all the staff and go over some rules and you get to meet more new women!
Day two- Day two is when rehearsals begin! You meet Frit and Frat and learn your opening number! Everyone dresses pretty cute. But you definitely need to wear something easy to move in but cute! Haha! We had two rehearsals in between breakfast and lunch! Then we had some time to go get changed and get ready for dinner. There was a mix of cocktail dresses and evening gowns.
Day Three– Day three they surprised everyone that we were going to Seven Magic Mountains to take photos which was amazing! We all wore our competition swimsuits and our dresses were sponsored so each girl got a dress! Once we got back to the Westgate it was time for lunch and then rehearsal! So everyone did a quick outfit change and went to rehearsal! After that was the Elvis Suite dinner! Everyone wears an evening gown and it’s probably one of the best nights there! You get to tour and take photos in the suite that Elvis stayed in and they serve super yummy appetizer food! Definitely my favorite night!
Day Four– The next two days are strictly rehearsal days! We had three rehearsals on day four. Breakfast, rehearsal, lunch, rehearsal, dinner, rehearsal. Everyone also got an America baseball tee so we could all get photos together! They were super cute! The America girls shirts had blue sleeves, American girls sleeves were red, and the Miss were greyish white. Dinner is a little more relaxed though. It’s buffet style and most of the girls wore a cocktail dress.
Day Five-same for day five. Everyone had two rehearsals and an earlier night to prepare for interviews the next morning. Dinner was also buffet style and just more relaxed.
Day Six– INTERVIEW DAY! This day is probably the most important! Your interview is 50% of your score. They want to see how well you can control an interview and speak with others. They want to learn about you and what your platform is. If you hire a coach for anything, let it be for this. After interviews we had a little down time and then our first rehearsal on stage. We got to see where we will actually be performing and learn how the show was gonna go. After rehearsal was our dignitary dinner. Each state has to present a gift that represents your state to David and Jackie Seigel. David and Jackie Seigel own the Westgate resort and lost their daughter Victoria at 18 to an overdose. They started Victoria’s Voice to save other kids from going down the same path. Our gift was we donated a park bench with a plaque and ten of their Victoria’s Voice books to a local rehab facility in St.Louis. <3
Day Seven- Was a more relaxed day too. The Miss for America had their prelims and final this day! It was also the day my family flew in! It was seriously the best feeling seeming them after being away so long! I watched the prelims with Kate and cheered Lauren on! She ended up making top 15!!
Day Eight- The Mrs. American prelim and final day! My day started early with hair and makeup with Nicole! Which was AMAZING! Then I hurried and got all my stuff together to take it to the dressing room and we had a rehearsal practicing everything on stage. We had rehearsal just us girls and then our husbands joined us for the walking and introduction part! For the prelims we did swimsuit, gown, and costume! Prelims are what determine the top 15! Once the final starts they announce the top 15 after we did our swimwear number again! The whole night went so fast and it was such an amazimg memory!
I was a ball of nerves the whole morning of our final! I wasn’t really sure what to expect. This was only my second pageant ever. All I kept telling myself was to be confident and have fun. That’s all that you can do. No matter what, I made some AMAZING friendships, and met women from all over the United States who had amazing stories to share!
My family being there to support me meant so much to me though! The whole night went by so fast! I won the Mrs. Fitness award! I was in pure shock when they called my name! Once the final was over I hung out with my family and was a perfect night! I might not have won but I’m walking away with some really amazing memories! And the new Mrs.American Shaylyn has a heart of gold! She’s seriously such an amazing woman!
Shoutout to my amazing sponsors! Shine Sunless Tanning, Camille La Vie, and My amazing coach Kristin! I seriously couldn’t have done it without them!! All my outfits are linked Here!
