Mrs.Missouri American!
Hi guys! In case you missed it, I won Mrs.Missouri American on September 11th! It was seriously one of the most amazing days ever! I wanted to create a blog post and just share all the photos in one place and to share how I felt going into it and after it! I’m so incredibly thankful for everyone who congratulated me and DMed me! I tried to get back to as many DM’s as I could! Sorry if I missed you!!
How I felt going into it: I knew NOTHING really about pageants! It never seemed like something I could do. I always thought it’s more for younger girls who aren’t married or have kids. But I was WRONG! Going into it, I just really wanted to challenge myself to step outside my comfort zone. Speak In front of people. Share even more of my story and why it’s important to me. I always feel hesitant to share about my childhood/past. But I feel it’s important to share about my past because without these things happening to me, I wouldn’t be who I am today. And I feel like there’s a lot of adults who have gone through very similar situations as me.
So basically how it went was first thing Saturday morning we all did our private interviews. That means we go in to this room where each judge is sitting at their own table and we stand at the table with our backs towards them and they tell us we have one minute to tell them our bio about ourselves. You turn around say your bio and then they call time when your minute is up. Then you get 4 minutes with that same judge (and you can sit down😂)! With the first judge I was SOOO nervous! But as I started talking and just telling her about myself it got easier and I felt less nervous. It felt more like a conversation than an interview. But after you’re done with one judge you move onto the next and do the same thing all over! Your private interview is 50% of your score! So it’s a huge deal. Once we got done with the interviews we went straight into rehearsal!
Rehearsal was fun! You get to know the girls more! We got to see how the show is gonna go! You just feel even more confident with practicing more. After rehearsal it was time to eat and get ready! I was mostly ready other than redoing my hair and touching up my face. Matt, the kids, and my mother In law got to the hotel not long afterwards. So I got to be with them and they were sooo excited about staying in a hotel! Law even ate her dinner in the bathtub but she thought it was so cool! ha!
The whole pageant just went so fast! It was seriously one of the best nights! When I was on stage just seeing my kids so excited and cheering me on made it even more amazing! I went into this whole experience just telling myself if its meant to be, it’ll be. I spent MANY nights staying up late practicing interview questions and walking. Now that the Mrs. Missouri Pageant is over, me and my two sister queens move on to nationals! We’ll each be representing the State of Missouri. There’s a lot to do before nationals! We need several evening gowns, cocktail dresses, hair, makeup, interview outfit, costume, ect. It cost a lot of money. But I’m trying my best to thrift what I can!😂 (Fingers crossed)
